Nikki Baird, Anthology Chair, will lead a workshop on everything you need to know about the anthology. The workshop will cover the theme and resources for the theme, Crossing Colfax, elements of strong short story writing, and how it’s different from writing a novel (besides being shorter), and what makes for a powerful short story. Nikki will be available to answer questions about the submission process and guidelines, as well as any other questions you can think of, and she’ll bring resources with her that can help for all of the topics mentioned above. Whether you plan on submitting for Anthology 2014 or not, this workshop will give you some great fundamentals on short story writing.

Nikki Baird has been a member of RMFW for five years and is currently the Anthology Chair. She has been a semi-finalist twice in the Writers of the Year short story contest, and had a short story included in the 2009 RMFW Anthology, Broken Links, Mended Lives. She is also an associate editor at the short story e-zine Electric Spec, where she shifts through at least 120 stories per year in that slush pile. She has been a past finalist in the Colorado Gold contest and is working on getting her first novel published.
