Find out what every writer needs to know about local weekly and independent publications at the Denver Woman’s Press Club’s annual fall seminar, “Target Market Reporting: The Future of Independent News,” on Saturday, October 13, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at 1325 Logan Street, Denver. Learn from the owners and editors of some the city’s strongest independent newspapers just what makes them tick and how you can use these publications to further your writing career. You’ll learn which independent metro newspapers are still in print, what new specialized markets they reach, and why they thrive in the quickly changing landscape of newspaper publishing. Plus, you’ll discover how to use them as a showcase for your writing—and yourself!

Speakers include Carol Lomond, author, publisher, and journalist of City and Mountain Views; Carol Roberts, editor, Front Porch (covering news in northeast Denver); and Helen Masterson, editor of Guest Guide Publications, a tourist publication in Moab, Utah, Winter Park, Colorado, and Estes Park Colorado.
