Use Music, Noise, Rhythm and Blues to Spice Up Your Writing –Plus Learn to Read Your Writing Aloud!

Bring paper and pen to write, plus bring one page, double-spaced, of your writing or a sample from literature to read aloud. In the first hour, we’ll look at what it means to add sound to your writing, and in the second hour, we’ll cover the basic skills of reading your writing aloud.


PART I: ADD SOUND TO YOUR WRITING
• Augment your writing with Music and Metaphor
• Punctuate meaning with Noise, Chatter, and Sound

• Explore examples from Joyce Carol Oates, Toni Morrison, Mary Higgins Clark

PART II: LEARN SKILLS TO READ YOUR WRITING ALOUD
• Been asked to read your work?
• Felt nervous or just scared?

• Discover how to prepare for a Reading?
• Stand tall, use your breath.
• Hold an audience with pitch, pace, and pause.
• Pre-scan your work.
• Rehearse, Practice and Present
