Rocky Mountain Mystery Writers of America Invites To Dinner: Midnight Ink Editor Terri Bishoff

“How a Mystery Publisher Remains Nimble in a Changing Marketplace”

Program: Acquiring Editor Terri Bischoff will talk about how Midnight Ink is reacting to the new publishing climate and what changes the company is making as a result. Also, she’ll discuss trends in the mystery market, both in the content of books and the marketing of them, that she sees as an acquisition editor.

Bio: Terri Bischoff joined Midnight Ink as an Acquiring Editor in October 2009. She leads all editorial directions and creates the seasonal lists. She has dramatically increased the number of titles per season, as well as expanded the type of crime fiction MI has published. Terri has a wealth of experience and knowledge in both mysteries and in bookselling, having been involved for 15 years in all areas of bookstore operations, particularly as book buyer and reviewer. She has worked at Kramer Books in Washington, DC, and more recently, Terri owned and operated Booked For Murder Mystery Bookstore in Madison, Wisconsin.

(The directions to the Denver Press Club, located at 1330 Glenarm Place in Denver, are as follows: Take 1-25 to 6th Ave. east. Turn north onto Santa Fe to Colfax Ave (15th) and turn right (east). Go about 4 blocks to Glenarm, turn left (north). The Denver Press Club will be about a block and half down on the right hand side, across from the Denver Athletic Club. It’s a small stone building with an awning. Parking is available to the south, in the lot next to the Press Club, for $3. Bring singles or a credit card. You must pay the machine and then leave the ticket on your dashboard. Otherwise, there is meter parking on the street, for which you will need quarters.
