Letters & Lines Conference sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the SCBWI


Registration has opened for the Fall 2011 Letters & Lines Conference sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrator. The two conference will be Saturday and Sunday, September 17-18 at the Sheraton Denver West Hotel in Lakewood and offers an additional optional intensive Friday, September 16 at the same location.

The event kicks off with a keynote address from the ever quirky Adam Rex, author and illustrator of renown children’s books like
Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich and Tree Ring Circus. Adam is joined on the conference faculty by Cecily Kaiser (Publishing Director, Abrams Appleseed), Kendra Levin (Editor, Viking Children’s Books), Kristin Nelson (Agent/Owner, Nelson Literary Agency), Alexandra Penfold (Editor, Paula Wiseman Books), and Elana Roth (Agent, Johnson Literary Agency).

There will also be sessions on developing your craft and marketing your work led by regional authors and illustrators Bobbie Collier-Morales, Sean McCollum, Ann Whitehead Nagda, Judith Snyder, Barbara Steiner, Caroline Stutson, Denise Vega, Natasha Wing and Paul Yalowitz.

Not only will you be inspired and enhance your skills, participants can also get their work in front of book publishing professionals. The conference includes several First Pages sessions where attendees can submit manuscript pages to be critiqued by industry professionals from the faculty.

The Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators is a
