Denver Press Club Mark Twain Program

Friends of the Denver Press Club,

I hope you can join us Thursday night for the Mark Twain program, which should be a hoot.
It’s free and open to everyone; just show up at 6 p.m.

Thursday, March 3, 6-8 p.m., a special MARK TWAIN PROGRAM upstairs at the club, titled “Mark Twain: ‘Dean of the Planet’s Journalism’: A Look at the Famous Author’s Recently Released Autobiography, Worldwide Celebrity, Years as a Journalist and Correspondence to the Denver Press Club.” Free and open to all; just show up.

The College of Arts and Media at the University of Colorado Denver co-sponsors this event. Stan Soocher, associate professor, music & entertainment industry studies at UCD, will moderate a panel comprised of DPC member Hugh Bingham, who is a Twain impersonator; The Denver Post columnist William Porter; Bob Baron, owner of Fulcrum Publishing in Golden; and Philip Joseph, associate professor of English, UCD.

Also, Soocher will display a letter that the Denver Press Club sent to Twain, asking for an autographed photo, and Twain’s handwritten response: “Write on it: Mark Twain Dean of the planet’s journalism: joined the guild in 1849, aged 14, & has not broken the connection in 58 years.”
